Namukid mi bai.

Thursday.  We moved our meeting time from 8am to 9.  Mga gi-hangover man jud.
Same faces were here: kami na nagkuyog last night, hangtod karon kay kami ghapon.  Pagka!

Imagine these faces na nagtapad sa pinakatumoy sa van.  Natug with our heads up, nagnganga, naglaway ug naghagok.

Not even pleading can save us…

For music alone: The Fight is Over – Urbandub

“Emo is good but only for an hour. After that, you’re a drama queen”
…That’s what insoy said…
It was etched in my mind.

But it’s good to have that very hour even for once.

Shit, 4 years na unta.
Redhorse pa be!

The Fight is Over – Urbandub

When the fighting is over
Coz our mouths have just run dry
As our feelings get colder
There is nothing to hold us now
Gave all this time
Just to be let down

Can you explain to me
What has become of us
With words released
We can never take them back
(For all that we’re worth now)
Not even pleading can save us

I know you’ll meet someone better
But would you still think of me
If he can’t hold you like I did
Would you run back to me
Yes I know this pain shall pass
Gave all this time
Still we couldn’t last

How could we end this way
Our promises thrown away
All the years we’ve built broken up
See it crashing down
I have to say though alone
In this crazy sea of faces
It’s still your face I wanna know

THEIR BOOKS

(click photo for TSINELAS DIARIES link)

It works this way: we ask book donations from columnists, writers, poets, editors, artists, musicians and other prominent personalities in cebu’s art and literary scene. it doesn’t mean books they wrote themselves, but books by authors they read. these are books that influence them in their craft, books that define their personalities and by authors who have helped them become who they are now.

Then we put these books on sale. if you love melanie lim, for example, you would not want to miss the event if books from her collection are on display. you’d love to own a part of her. that’s the idea. plus, the books are much cheaper, of course. and while you’re at it, you’re helping poor but talented children get free art education for two months (proceeds will go to tsinelas art school).

The following is a tentative list (and it’s growing as we speak). some have already donated:

Ely Buendia was finally discharged from hospital Saturday afternoon.

For more pix, click the photo.

In an interview with GMA-7’s Showbiz Central on Sunday, Ely’s wife, Diane Ventura, said the singer is now in stable condition and currently at the wake of his mother Lizette Buendia, who died days before their much awaited reunion concert last August 30.

During the Eraserheads’ concert night at The Fort, Ely suffered a stroke. He was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and later transferred to the Philippine Heart Center, where he went under the knife.

“Ely is OK. He’s doing fine, doing great. He was discharged from the hospital yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. Right now, nandun siya sa wake ng mom niya,” Ventura said.

Ventura said weeks before the concert, Buendia was already suffering from “severe emotional and physical stress.”

But she said: “Ely, being the professional that he is, being the strong person that he is, decided to continue with the show for the sake of his family.”

Ely’s erratic health condition prompted them to take some precautionary measures. “We really made it a point na kailangan meron mga doctors na naka-standby. Tapos ‘yung roon niya nandun yung mga equipment to check his vital signs, blood pressure, and everything,” she said. “Which is a good thing there was an ambulance ready rin, we were thinking one step ahead in case anything happen.”

Ely's son, EON

Ventura said the incident created an impact on their son, whom she said saw everything. “Unfortunately he (the son) was there to witness Ely being pulled by a stretcher out of the room, that time I was panicking kasi siyempre father of my son,” she said.

“I kept comforting him and telling him that everything was going to be OK and his dad just [was so] exhausted from lack of sleep. Super love niya ‘yung daddy niya. He is actually taking care of Ely, talagang tinatabihan niya matulog at pinapakain niya.”

Meanwhile, Ventura apologized to the band’s avid fans for the abrupt end of the August 30 concert.

She also hinted at holding another concert. “First of all I’d like to thank the fans for understanding the situation. Hopefully Ely can make it up to you guys. Sorry sa nangyari, it can’t be helped. I’m sure they understand the situation and we’re happy that they do,” she said.

On August 30, the band’s much awaited concert reunion was cut short following Buendia’s heart attack.

Ely was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and his former band mates, accompanied by Ely’s sister Lally, broke the sad news to thousands of fans who attended the concert.

Organizers said fans understood the reasons for the abrupt end of the concert, but they requested for a follow-up reunion concert.

On September 1, Ely was transferred to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) where he underwent his third angioplasty operation.

The following day, Ely was declared stable by his manager Day Cabuhat, adding that the singer-composer was “100-percernt fully restored.”

However, Buendia’s doctors advised him to stay in hospital for two more weeks for a cardiac rehabilitation.

In 2007, Ely also suffered a heart attack while his new band Pupil was performing in Laguna. He underwent two angioplasty procedures at the PHC.
